Verde come queste belle foglie di Sangiovese. Le piante non me le ricordo così belle come quest’anno. Tutte perfettamente in forma, belle verdi fino alla fine. Quando siamo ad agosto, di solito, si cominciano a vedere le piante in sofferenza, le foglie gialle, ma quest’anno niente. Tutti i vigneti che ho visto in zona stanno da Dio.

Green, just like this beautiful leaves of Sangiovese. In our area, where it doesn’t usually rain a lot (or at all) in summer time, at this time of the year the vines are a bit suffering, the lower leaves turn yellowish. This vintage, it’s another story. This babies are healty as you can be. And that’s true for most of the vineyards I’ve seen this year. Rain in august surely helped, but you could see they were good even before.

Quando vedi dei grappoli di Sangiovese così, come fai a non pensare che esca fuori un grande vino? Andiamo piano, ancora è presto, ma siamo contenti.

When you see a Sangiovese cluster like this one, it is impossible not to think that you are not going to make an excellent wine. Let’s see, shall we?

Cos’altro dobbiamo raccogliere? Ancora lui, l’ultimo rimasto dei suoi fratellini, questo prezioso Alicante. Non è una bellezza?

Solo per l’effetto delle foglie, che cominciano a virare sul rosso. Ad Ottobre saranno tutte così, e sarà uno spettacolo. A quel tempo si comincerà a vedere cosa abbiamo tirato fuori da lui.

I love that shade of red. Just love it. Didn’t I say that I have a thing with Alicante?. I certainly do. And wait to see what this vineyard looks like in October, when all the leaves will be red.
