Vendemmiato oggi il Syrah al Podere Adua, proprio a ridosso della cantina. E’ un vigneto del 1999, 6200 ceppi per ha. Produzione media per pianta circa 700 gr di uva.

Syrah at Podere Adua today. It’s a vineyard that I planted in 1999, 6200 plants per ha (circa 2800 p/acre). Average production per plant: 700 gr.

Per la prima volta usiamo i bins da 2 qli invece delle cassette da 20 kg. Il vigneto è a poche centinaia di metri dalla cantina, e i bins possono essere inforcati dal carrello elevatore e scaricati in un nastro che li porta alla diraspatrice molto più velocemente che in cassetta piccola, consentendo una sosta minore prima della diraspapiagiatura.

For the first time we use the plastic bins capable of carrying 200 kg of grapes instead of the small plastic boxes of 20 kg capacity. The vineyard is very close to the cellar so the fruit is processed in minutes with the help of a forklifter (the new, dear, purchase this year).

L’uva viene quindi diraspata, i cassoni vengono immediatamente lavati.

Il pressato viene messo direttamente in barrique aperta per la fermentazione.

The grapes are destemmed and crushed. The bins are immediately washed with water.

The crushed grapes are transfered to old open barrels (french oak barriques of 225 L.) for fermentation.
