that’s it, another year’s Vinitaly done, and done vicariously for me, as I stayed home with three vomity children and a dying dog…oh yes, it’s glam glam glam being a Wine Wife. Bit of a wierd Vinitaly then, this year…this fair started for us 10 years ago as the key point in the year in which to set out our stall and tout our wares. It is by now less and less of a trading post and much more of a meeting point, the one time of the year when we can meet and talk with clients new and old, get a snapshot (make that schnapschlot by the end of Sunday’s drinking public) of the wine market and of course put faces to bloggers. And a year besmirched by scandalous winemaking practices seen from the scurrilous south to the rarified ramparts of Brunello’s castles, and pessimism at the state of the world economy. All tomorrow’s chip papers, of course, because according to Justine’s Economic Law, all those who could afford a bottle at 10 quid/$ (or 15/$, 0r 50/$) today, can afford it at 11 quid/$ etc tomorrow.
